CSC sets bold target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at roundtable with President Obama

Last week, CSC were invited to take part in a roundtable discussion with President Obama at the Department of Energy offices, the subject was greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.   CSC, along with 13 other major suppliers to the US Government, were invited to discuss our GHG emission reduction targets and make our first corporate commitment to disclose emissions and set new reduction goals.

CSC made a commitment to achieve an absolute global GHG reduction target of 18% by 2018 (baseline 2012) through implementing best practices in data center power and cooling, employee education and real estate footprint consolidation.  We have already reduced our GHG emissions by 8.7% globally, (2013) so this expanded target builds on our success.

The US Administration is leading by example and has now signed an executive order to reduce the federal government’s GHG emissions by 40% over the next 10 years from 2008 levels, and to increase the share of electricity it uses from renewable sources to 30% by 2025.
