A reflection on our summer internships

Our summer has come to an end. The hot sun, blue skies, and beach tans have reached their final curtain call. However, some things won’t fade. The memories and hard work we were part of here at CSC will remain an essential stepping stone in our careers wherever we choose to take them.

Marketing, sales, supply chain, cybersecurity, and the coffee machine became special to us. We took every opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally, in our time here. As we say goodbye, we interns have a few parting words:

“CSC gave me a summer of fun, education and career development. I cannot express how grateful I am for this opportunity.” – Bradley Mann

Interning at CSC has taught me to never say ‘no’ and always ask questions.” – Eunhee Cho

“The biggest lesson I have taken away from this internship is the importance of networking because you never know who might be able to help you further down the road.” – Thomas Gill

As an intern at CSC, I did not expect to enjoy my journey here as much as I did. I was able to meet new people, learn new skills and seize opportunities like meeting the CEO, Mike Lawrie, which many do not get the chance to do.” – Aashna Kapoor

“The most important aspect I am taking away from my internship as CSC is my thorough understanding of the Information Technology marketplace. I urge all business students to experience working within the field, as it will likely be part of their future.” – Kaitlyn Brooks

“This internship taught me to be fearless and a little spontaneous. If you want to make the most out of your internship you have to believe that you’re just as capable as the next person. This is how you contribute something to your team. If I hadn’t blurted out, ‘What about an Intern Takeover?’ my summer would have been much different.” – Ornella Islam

“If you want to make the most of your internship, be prepared to say ‘yes’ to new experiences. You never know where one can lead you.” – Trevor O’Loughlin

“Don’t wait for work to come to you. Be proactive and ask for it.” – Bella Ge

“The expert in anything was once a beginner. Don’t be afraid to ask questions more than once, take risks and learn from observation.” – Michael Soldner

“I cannot stress enough how important it is to network and maintain relationships while you’re here. The people that I’ve worked with here are truly unforgettable human beings.” – Varun Datta

Thanks for a great summer, CSC! If you’re interested in hearing more about what we learned this summer, join our TwitterChat Thursday, August 11, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST, with the hashtag .

Varun and meVarun Datta and Bradley Mann are both rising seniors at James Madison University. Varun, a marketing major, and Bradley, a public relations major, have thoroughly enjoyed writing for the intern blog space this summer. They hope this last blog will leave valuable sentiments from the entire 2k16 intern class at CSC’s Tysons location.
