DXC Agility Platform now integrated with Hitachi Automation Director

Building out a DXC Technology Agility Platform blueprint just got better.   Blueprints are the way in which you map multiple technologies (operating systems, applications, load balancers, databases, data files, etc.) together to make a single service offering by dragging and dropping the different images, assets and technologies together. Blueprints allow application owners to build services ranging from a simple corporate website to a more complex, multi-tier billing and payment system.  The Agility Platform has had many integrations to both public and private cloud tools to enable you to host the workloads appropriately along with other integrations for load balancers, SaaS databases, networks, DevOps and several other technologies.

One of our clients’ biggest pain points is automating storage and compute services. They want to consistently allocate storage and compute services in a blueprinted and standardized pattern that aligns to the business policies for environment, security and other requirements. When including storage and compute from Hitachi Automation Director (HAD) into an Agility Platform blueprint, HAD provides the intelligent automated workflows that incorporate storage and compute best practices in a repeatable manner.

With the new integration to HAD, you are now able to drag and drop Hitachi storage and compute into your blueprints, or even just publish a Hitachi infrastructure-as-a-service blueprint to the marketplace for end users to subscribe to so they can manage the infrastructure as well as the application. Through our valued partnership with Hitachi and Cloud Technology Partners, we built an Agility Platform adapter for HAD with the following features:

  • Seamless integration between HAD and Agility Platform
  • Supports asset type bindings for the HAD service templates
  • Integrates a Hitachi bare metal server into your application infrastructure
  • Simple and complex HAD workflows can be orchestrated through HAD service adapter from the Agility Platform
  • HAD services can be included into customers’ existing blueprints or contained within a blueprint by itself and published to the marketplace
  • Agility Platform governance controls establish, maintain and enforce high-level policies and procedures across HAD services

As you can see from the list of features above, end users responsible for building blueprints in the Agility Platform will now have the ability to design a more complete and robust blueprint for their service offerings. This HAD adapter also opens the possibility of including further Hitachi services in the future like object storage, data protection and more.

The adapter is published in DXC’s open source repository for our customers to use. The repository contains the jar files and documentation for the integration. For customers who require access to the open source repository, please contact Agility Platform support.

Customers who have the Agility Platform installed in their own data center(s) can upgrade to the newest version of Agility and/or updated adapters. Please refer to your documentation to review which versions of the Agility Platform the adapters have been certified against; an upgrade of Agility may be required.

For customers using DXC managed cloud offerings such as BizCloud or DXC Hybrid Cloud, discuss this update with your account representative. Those DXC services follow a separate schedule for updating the platform and the unique services they provide.
