Thriving on change – leading by example


This week DXC Technology released its first Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report 2017.

This forward looking report sets out our sustainability framework and our plans for the future, including for example our new 3-year global environmental goals.

CR Report 2017 CoverDXC was formed in April 2017 with the merger of CSC and the Enterprise Services business of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). All data points contained within this report refer to former CSC business operations only for fiscal year 2017 unless specifically referenced as HPE Enterprise Services.

Since DXC launched in April, we have made significant strides in standing up to our new Corporate Responsibility Program. In this video, our Chairman and President Mike Lawrie talks about DXC’s ongoing commitment to Corporate Responsibility and some key highlights from the report.

Here are some of our achievements for FY2017:


Overall, CSC achieved a 30.9% global reduction in energy consumption and an 18.7% global reduction in greenhouse gas emissions against a 2012 baseline.  This is a truly significant achievement to close out the year. Original targets were 20% (energy) and 18% (GHG emissions) reductions, to complete by FY18. Both targets were exceeded a year early.

This result was achieved through an approach combining portfolio rationalization, leasing of energy-efficient office space and strategic energy management.

We also achieved a global target of zero waste to landfill for electronic waste in FY2017 (former CSC).

Sustainability Awards

  • DXC achieved a place in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America. The DJSI is a leading global sustainability benchmark tracking performance of the world’s leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria.
  • DXC ranked #14 of the Top 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2017 by CR Magazine.
  • Named a ‘Top Military Friendly Employer’ and ‘Top Military Spouse Friendly Employer’ for 2017 by Victory Media.

Investing in the future

Our DXC Foundation will continue investing in community-based, employee-led programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), including a DXC Codes sequel and our employee-powered Lunch ’n’ LEGO program for STEM learning. The goal of our efforts is to help young people engage with technology in fun and interesting ways, ultimately developing the pipeline of talent our business will rely on in the future. In January 2017, we issued a friendly challenge to young people around the globe to create an adventure game using Scratch, a visual programming language. This DXC Codes challenge introduced 1,700 young people in 14 countries to the excitement and job-readiness benefits of coding.

Actions speak louder than words

Events such Earth Day help to raise awareness of environmental issues. Our first DXC Earth Day Event in April attracted hundreds of employees to get involved in their community, collecting marine litter at the beach or river, planting trees and more.

River Seine Clean Up

France, more than 30 DXC employees used canoes and litter pickers to remove 132 gallons of garbage from the River Seine.
